  • Samba Fundamentals is a great place to begin for anyone that is just starting their journey into samba.

  • Samba Fundamentals is a class where we work on understanding the base of samba and its essence. Connecting to the roots of the dance, and how the rhythm and the movement resonates in your body.

  • Samba Fundamentals is a course you can take at any level. We can always go back to our fundamentals and have something to learn here. This class is essential for understanding the essence and feeling of Samba. Each fundamentals course is different, and you will always have something new to learn!

  • Absolutely! All of our classes are open to anyone at any level. Samba is a dance and musical language that was built within community, meaning everyone can learn from each other. It is important to be open to the learning process whether you are a beginner or have been studying for a long time. Our in studio classes here at DM encourage supporting each other in our growth as we work hard building discipline and respect for everyone in the shared space.

  • Samba Drills & Freestyle is a class where we focus on strengthening our body and building endurance. We work on exercises to emphasize the hips more when we samba, also practicing expression and performance quality. Students will be challenged to develop their freestyle abilities to connect to their authentic movement style bringing out their personality in their samba.

  • For class we normally train in running shoes. You want to use a shoe that is lightweight and flexible and that doesn’t have a very hard sole. You should be able to rise up on your toes comfortably. You are welcome to train barefoot or in socks as well for in studio class.
