This workshop is inspired by Adrianna’s recent work in Brazil with Alex, exploring the deep roots of samba through rhythm, movement, and cultural connection.

Whether you’re new to samba or a seasoned dancer, understanding the roots of samba is essential — not just to dance the rhythm, but to honour the story behind it. Samba is more than choreography: it’s ancestry, resistance, community, and joy.

🪘 About Alex Oliver: Born in Salvador, Bahia, Alex Oliver began his artistic journey at age 11. He has performed with celebrated Brazilian groups including Timbalada, Olodum, Pagod’art, and many more. Since moving to Rio de Janeiro, he’s worked with top samba and popular artists like Tchakabum, Maryzelia, and Samba na Serrinha, and founded major projects such as SambahRio A Travessias, blending Bahia’s power with Rio’s swing.

Currently, he plays with PedeTeresa and organizes biweekly samba events in Praça Tiradentes that attract crowds of over 3,000 people.
